We have one Supermarket on the Island, which is a Countdown located on Belgium st, however we have several great locally owned specialty shops if you would like to support local – here are a few
o RAW in Ostend has most things you might need. Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, organic produce, interesting wines and craft beers. They also have a great range of specialty foods including spices and sauces from around the world.
o Gulf Foods is a food wholesaler who supply many of the restaurants on the Island with high quality ingredients, however their Food Store and Fillery on Tahi Rd is open to the public where you can get a wide range of restaurant quality products. It’s a great option of you are looking to reduce your waste too as they offer fill your own options.
o Waiheke Specialty Foods stocks food products from around the World. They have a range of pre prepared meal options and deli foods.
o Island Coffee in Ostend. Pop in for a flat white or pick up a bag of freshly roasted beans to take home right from the source. Follow your nose as you can often smell the roasting beans from the road.
o Buy your fresh fish and a Dozen tasty Oysters from Te Matuku Oysters
o The Island Grocer in Oneroa is a hub for all things food! You can get takeaway coffees, amazing sandwiches and fresh daily smoothes from the café and pick up everything you might need (and more!) from the shop.
o Waiheke Wine Centre in the heart of Oneroa has an extensive collection of Waiheke wine and wine from the around the World. They also have an impressive collection of craft beers and regular instore tastings hosted by various Island wine producers.
o Pick up your prime cuts from the Humblepie Village Butchery. They make some incredible sausages with flavors like Duck & Orange, Beef Smoked Mushroom & Horseradish and Toulouse, Pork & Fennel. They are also happy to offer friendly advice on cooking methods and will take requests for special cuts.
